Ag Science Organic Farm visit
28 Mar 2022
Last Wednesday saw a visit to an Organic farm by our budding farmers from the 5th year Agricultural Science class at St. Joseph’s CC.
The trip was to Cloncannon organic farm in North Tipperary owned by Sean O’Farrell. The weather was glorious and it made the long journey seem like a country drive.
Sean welcomed us with open arms to his farm and upon arrival after admiring his Canadian Spruce cabin and using the facilities he quickly began his tour of the farm.
The Organic pigs provided much entertainment to the class who did not waste an opportunity to cross the fence and go to pet the Duroc pigs. They proved very friendly and enjoyed the attention. A little mud did not put off our intrepid farmers from Charlestown!
Moneygall and the famous ‘Obama plaza’ provided a well needed stop for refreshments on the way home. Potatoe wedges and ice-cream were the order of the day. Finally on the road home to Charlestown after an enjoyable and informative trip to Cloncannon Organic Farm.
